Mystery Of The Urban Monks by Vikram Singh is a novella on a similar plot which gives the idea how life of a common human has ups and downs, love and hate, trust and deceivness. 

While reading the book, I felt to quit as I felt that it was disengaging but I was wrong, it proved to be full of lessons and reasons.

Indeed, it was not much grippy in the beginning but yeah, it's worth reading. The lessons it has and the message is deep. Language is lucid and the book title is very appropriate.
